Quote of the day

"Let every action of mine be something beautiful for God."
-Blessed Mother Teresa

This is the quote I am thinking about constantly today. Please Lord, let these thoughts come out into actions, beautiful for You alone.

God bless,
Mary

Mary,

I thought I'd answer your question you posted on my blog. Our 7 year old has some emotional issues. At seven she still throws rip roaring tantrums at the drop of a hat. Seeing as we have 5 other children who seem to be able to exert self control, we felt it was most likely not our parenting that was leading to her outbursts. We've tried punishing bad behavior, rewarding good behavior, isolating her when she goes beserk, all to no avail. At my wits end one day I started researching the Feingold diet, and basically that was what we implemented here. All artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners and these three preservatives (BHA, BHT and TBHQ) must be eliminated from our child's diet. I implemented the diet on Monday and for two straight weeks our 7 year old did not have a single tantrum. This was a child that had a tantrum at least once a day. Now, she's not perfect and will have an occasional outburst, but she calms down much more quickly and her crying fits don't spiral out of control as they once did.

On the occasions she has had a little something "bad" the affect is almost immediate. It's like her voice pitch rises and her speech becomes faster and more frantic and she almost bounces off the walls. It is really weird!

She is an absolutely adorable little girl with tons of personality. She has been much happier and peaceful since we tweaked her diet :-)

BTW, no Cheerios for her--they contain at least one of the no-no preservatives :-0

Did your little girl come down with the pox in the end? How's her asthma?

Have a blessed evening!
