The big move.
Hopefully this is it and we can finally settle in what we hope to be our last home and put this moving every 2 year deal behind us.
That means packing. Lots of packing.
You see, in the last move, we had professional packers and movers use their expertise and I just sat and observed and loved every moment of it. Not this time, though. So, what am I thinking? Seriously! This packing is NOT just packing up boxes and putting them in a pile. Noway. It is MORE like "Do I need this? Why? or Why not? Who should I give it to? Goodwill? A friend?" It is more of a reorganization of my entire house contents.
This new home (which looks similar to The Waltons house--do you remember them? Yeah, showing my age...) which I love from the start is also a home that is particularly smaller in size than our previous 2 homes. Mind you, that also includes 4 additional children so.....we are purging as well. Getting rid of major items like dressers, desks, bunk beds that were about to break any day etc...
We made 3 runs to the dump with our van load of items. I had to part with a very special piece of furniture that holds so many memories. That was hard. It was my grandmothers' little kitchen table and chairs. It was not big and I thought we could find a place for it...but we couldn't. It just does not fit inside our new home. It has nowhere to go. So, off it went. Oh, and here is a plug for my grandmother, who is 99 years old! She is still tickin' away and did not want to celebrate a birthday party since she celebrated her 90th...until she turns 100 years old. As though, reaching 95 or 98 or 99 was not a reason to celebrate! Oh, those older grandmothers have been through so much-they are so strong. God bless her.
Anyway, back to packing. It is basically ALL ME PACKING ALL BY MYSELF with lots of kidos helping to pack...if you get my drift...helping. They are doing sort of okay...the older ones. But the younger ones make my life a bit interesting in learning patience and do-overs.
1 box packed....2 boxes unpacked....
Up till today, we were right on schedule with our school work, which is a pleasant surprise. But not today, we will have to double up tomorrow's work to get it all done this week.
Without helpers around, I am resorting to alternative babysitters. Leapfrog Leapster (hey! at least its learning!) and little hand held Jumpstart video games (again, learning!) and then Pixtar too. I hid these away after finding them at the good ol' Thrift Store that I rave about! I got them all for under $5 each. Crazy good deals, huh!??!?! Well, this momma has to pack.
My hubby, where is my hubby? you ask? He is around. Yes, indeed. The huge blessing is allowing him to work a few days from home. It has actually worked out for us. WE are shocked! But I guess he is just used to loudness on a daily basis so he can learned how to concentrate with it all. The only tricky part is when he has a phone call to make. I am a super mean Momma then!!!
Christmas in October? Yup! In this house, it is. I am resorting to letting them watch Christmas classics, such as Rudolph etc....The classics from the 1950's of course.
Well, that is the update. The big move is over a week away and I am ready-mentally and emotionally but not physically ready! Please pray that we can get this all done in a timely manner-thank you so much!
God bless you,
Mary @ Cheerios

Cabin Fever in the Summer?
I always thought that cabin fever happened in the dreary, cold months of Jan-Feb-March.
And it did.
But it's also happening now. Yikes! In the summer? How could that be???
You'd think it is summer and you'd think pool...but imagine no pool access (yet, maybe...we're waiting for the 1/2 off deal and possibly join, maybe...still praying on it.) and it being very HHH---Hazy Hot Humid...and no pool.
So, what to do when there is no pool in the summer with 7 young kids and being a pregnant Momma, besides going totally nuts and pulling your hair out????
Let's see....
Lastly, there's a lot more of Momma laying on the couch feeling yucko and that equals a messier house, which also means lots of little extra hands are needed to help keep this boat afloat! That is not very pleasant for them or me nagging them to do it. We are all trying to hold off of the grudingly help and focus more on the generous help we are called to as we imitate our Lord Jesus and seek to serve Him in one another. :) Not an easy task but anything that is hard is usually most worthwhile, right???
PREGNANCY UPDATE: I am 11 1/2 weeks pregnant and feeling just like a pregnant Momma should feel!!! We are ever so grateful and so happy for this GIFT OF LIFE!!! Thank you for praying for us-Thank you so much!!!
God bless,

Let's see....
- Lots of things break in the house. Let's face it. We are just that family that breaks things. It's just who we are! When a new toy comes in our presence, we wonder how long it will last. In that essence, that is why we try really hard to buy things that are really well made and will (gasp! hopefully!) last some time around here!!!
- Lots of kids get hurt and have bandaids all over their boo-boo's. Why? B/c its too hot to play and run around outside for more than 20mins... so where is the next best place? Of course---Inside the house! Sure! Just the place where there is plenty of opportunity to offer up boo-boo's. haaa haaa!!!
- Lots of creative and imaginative play goes on here. Lots. Stuff I could NEVER imagine up!!! Love children's way of thinking-it's awesome! I have had to let them just get the house messy to play and I've seen the fruits of letting 'kids be kids'. Of course, there is always clean up that ALWAYS takes 2x longer!!!
- Lots of swinging on the hose hanging from our deck that is up 20 feet from the ground. Yeah. Imagine Tarzan. That's right. Tarzan.
- Lots of time filling and re-filling our tiny little kiddie pool that the children play in daily. Just think of 7 kids in one tiny pool. Kinda hilarious but my kids are such good sports.
- Lots of matchbox cars deep in dug out dirt ditches in front of our house.
- There's a bit more time for movies and even some youtube clips. Like this one!
Lastly, there's a lot more of Momma laying on the couch feeling yucko and that equals a messier house, which also means lots of little extra hands are needed to help keep this boat afloat! Have you ever teared up or even broke down crying b/c you realized that you, as a Momma, have not loved your children the way they deserve simply b/c you could not do what you wanted to do and knew that would help but could not physcially do it b/c of the many demands of children?
Have you ever cried so hard that your heart literally ached b/c you have not loved your children enough and it was in your power to do so but selfishly chose not to?
Have you ever? Have you?
I come to you, in this post, and ask you to pray for me and for all mothers who feel this way.
So heavy on my heart, these feelings, as I cling to the hope I have in Jesus Christ. He is my rock. He is my strength. He is the One I turn to in hopes of mercy and grace. He may be the only one to understand this power and deep love. These thoughts can be quite overwhelming, yet I turn to the Cross. In the Cross is where I can see the LOVE and the Forgiveness and the Hope. It is only there that I can begin to understand the depth of sacrificial Love that He shed for me and how I am to LOVE those He gave to me to take care of.
God bless,
Mary

Is it me?
or...do people just not get together much anymore?
I have noticed over the past 4-5 years a decline in "play dates" and get togethers for not only mom and tots(which are the most popular) but also for arranging play dates for older kids too. I also do not mean just the drop off play dates but the "mom comes along too so mom can have some adult interaction and adult talk" play dates. It makes me wonder if the technology spree has taken over the relationships that people NEED. We all need people and relationships in our lives, outside of our own family. Especially the moms, right Moms? I am tending to think that the Internet, texting, emails, twitter, face book, blogs, forums, IPhones, IPad's and whatever else is out there that I don't know about has taken the place of real live people. I remember how weird it was when emails came about. I still would rather talk on the phone than email someone about something.
It saddens me that our society is okay with this and has let the real human relationship, the sense of community, go by the wayside.
We (my family and I) are living in a very populated area and there are many very valid reasons to why other moms and kidos don't want to venture out. Traffic, schooling, clubs/activities and certainly the stress, stress, stress that congestion brings. Besides the traffic, this would be applicable to any other part of our country too. Wouldn't you agree that if someone really wants to see another or get their kids together to play and moms to chat, that they would seek them out? But I wonder if that desire is being fulfilled electronically.
At times, I feel like I have the plague or something! I had this conversation with a dear friend that lives 8 hours away from me and she feels the same way. It has to be this electronic world we are living in and not so much the actual location/state we live in. I have noticed lots of moms feel this way, all in different parts of our country.
I am not so keen on how this society and world is evolving. It truly saddens me.
I don't mean to complain but it is something that has been heavy on my heart lately and wanted to share. I am not sure even how to deal with it or try to change it or if it is possible to change it. How do I go along with this and enjoy the ride when I feel like I missed the boat?
God bless,
Mary

Quick Takes May 2012
Not sure where to start....so, it'll be more a 'quick takes' about our life recently.
1. Just got back from an eye dr. appt for one of my children. The appt was at 2:35 and we got home by 5:45. Lovely. Trying hard not to complain! :)
2. As for complaining-it's been a bit rampant around here lately. So, I have instituted a little reminder. When someone does (me and Daddy included) and if someone else notices, we squeeze our noses b/c....let's face it-COMPLAINING STINKS! haa haaa. Seriously!
3. As for the eye dr. appt-they were not too happy with us. What is up w/that?!?? I mean, it IS a pediatric stinkin' eye doctors-aren't they used to a bit of noise and play? argh. The appt went fine. No glasses needed and all is ok. (for now, at least!)
4. We are going green. As in natural-baby. Yup, all organic and natural and no preservatives or additives ..yadda yadda yadda. More $? You bet. But not too much more and the GREAT thing is that my kidos are really liking the taste of the new food deal! Yeah.
5. Why are we going granola? Well, for a number of reasons. The nasty bad food really does affect kids' behavior....as in bad behavior. We all feel better and we (as in MOMMMA AND DADDY!) have MORE energy. And we'll take any extra energy we can get to keep up w/the kids! They are sleeping! did you hear me???? SLEEEEEEPING! woohoo!!
6. We only have 20 more days of school. we are in the stretch and the kids are lovin' it! we have made a cute little countdown calender and they are finishing up books as each day passes. Granted our break will probably only last about 3 weeks (always does!) till the 'free for all' wears off and then they start asking to do school. Oh, yes, we homeschool. Another great joy-they ASK to do schoolwork!!!
7. The kids are all asking God for another baby. How sweet!!! He has not found that it is in His timing but we are waiting and waiting to see what God has in store for us. His will be done.
8. I have some grand plans for the summer. Stay tuned.
9. I have a "new look" and my hubby loves it. As in LOVES it!!! :) My hair is down almost every day and it is straight!! :) Thank God for those FLAT IRONS!!! :) I never used one before and now I think I'll never go without it!
10. I am still trying to keep up w/exercise and walking a few times a week. We had some nasty humid days so I didn't even venture out. But now it has been so lovely-I don't want to come in!
11. I was at a new store last week w/ ALL THE KIDS (remember I hate to go food shopping w/the kids!?!? yeah...) I went with them and we literally had a caravan. Just about all the customers stopped and looked and looked and looked. I am pretty used to a look, a glance, a smile and the shocked looks but this was WAY over the top! Some of the people were literally like yelling. It was so embarrassing. My kids all looked at me with bugged out eyes like "What's the big deal?" haaaahaa
12. This past weekend, 2 of my kids made their 1st Holy Communion. It was beautiful. Amazing and sweet. I loved this weekend. We had both sets of grandparents here to join us. Couldn't get better than that. Now they are gone and we're all a bit sad. Being so far from family is SO hard....
God bless you and your families,
Mary

I am crying
Have you every just cried b/c you are sick of saying...
"Because I said so, that's why."
"Stay in room till I let you out."
"Stop fighting and bickering!"
"If you fight about it, away it goes."
"Sit down and do your work!"
"Who made this mess? Please clean it up!"
"Stop teasing your brother. Now, go in the corner and stay there till you are quiet and I tell you to come out!"
"Why are you waiting for me? You can do this yourself."
"Get inside and finish up your school work then you can play outside!"
and on and on and on.
I am so tired. Maybe b/c my sleeping, or lack there of I guess, and just burnt out.
The morale is low around here as the weather is getting warmer and nicer to stay outside and away from the books.
Earlier in the week I made a new chart for the countdown of our last days of school and the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL. We all need a light at the end of this tunnel. Our family does take some time off away from sit down and focus school work during the summer, but it does not last too long since my kids thrive on schedules. But it sure is fun to just let go and bop around for a while.
My heart aches b/c I want to make the most of the days, with my focus on not having any regrets and doing God's will for our family. Trying to make each moment count, and last. But I also struggle to 'be in the moment' too and not an on-looker.
But yet instead my thoughts are to get through this school subject so we can be over and done with it. Get through that so that it will be done and we can do something fun, more enjoyable. Get through this hour so we are closer to nap time so I can rest. This survival mode is not my innermost desire to spend my days!!!
Why, oh why can't I see the visible in front of me as these moments? Why am I searching for clearer focus on finding these moments when they are RIGHT HERE?
So, I cry. I tear up b/c my wants conflict with my reality of life. But, maybe this reality is what I should want and truly what I need. God is the One making my days and who am I to ridicule and be upset with how these days are turning out. Sometimes I sound like a bit of a hypocrite as I say that I want to do God's Will and I strive to do it, yet I am not content with it. For that, my friends, I am sorry. Please forgive me.
I am a sinner and a work in progress....a saint in the making. I am not in Heaven yet so I am going to keep trying at this. I am not giving up.
God bless your day and your way of holiness!
Mary

Dear little one...
Yesterday was a difficult day.
I cried tears for you, my sweet little one who was once inside me.
I would have been about 6 months along right now.
Instead I am empty.
I wonder if God will bless us again with a sweet baby.
I wait and wonder.
You would have been born in mid-June this summer. Oh, what a beautiful time of the year to have a baby. All that fresh air that you would get. But you never got the chance.
Some people say that you were just a "blob" of tissue or cells.
But we know that you are a perfect creation by God. You became you at the moment of conception. There will never be another you.
I wonder what you would have looked like. Would you have brown hair like biggest sister or light brown/blonde like your other big sister?
Spiritually, I know you are in Heaven, perfect happiness and contentment. That gives me peace.
But my human heart aches and my arms want to cradle you and sing you lullabies and tenderly kiss your sweet skin.
Your big sisters and big brothers all love you, and talk about you every day. Not a day goes by that we do not ask you to pray for us.
I know that you are at peace, you are perfect in Heaven, waiting and praying for us to get there too.
Don't ever stop praying for us, little one.
You are so dear to our hearts.
When others ask how many kids we have, I always say "Seven... and one in Heaven". I will never let anyone tell me that you were not a real baby.
My whole life changed when you were conceived.
Your Daddy and I were so happy and willingly accepted you as a gift straight from God.
Those many weeks of morning sickness were very real.
Those many tired days and weeks were for you. And I'd do it all over again, for you.
My love is so deep, even if we only got to spend 10 weeks together.
My life not only changed, but was enriched and forever different in the best possible way.
You, little one, had a mission that only lasted a short time. You have given us focus, once again, on Heaven and why we are here. This place is not our home. This is not our destination. We are journeying to a much better place. A place where we can be forever united once again.
I yearn to hold you once again. You are forever my baby and forever I'll be your Momma.
I love you and I miss you.
God bless you little one,
Momma

It's not BAD if things are hard
Over these past few weeks I was convinced in a deeper loving manner of how when life is hard, it does not mean it is bad. When things in life may be difficult, it does not mean that it is not worth it.
I have been bombarded by others trying to escape the hardships of their life. For me, instead I am trying deeply to embrace my hardships, as they are very different from theirs... albeit still hardships. Knowing that it is God's Will for He either is making them happen or is allowing them to happen. Either way, there is peace. Believing that in all things, there is a greater good, even if we do not know what it is at that moment or may never know or may never understand the why's of it all.
The most difficult things in life are usually the ones most worth it.
Our world is craving the easy life. The life that everything goes smoothly and 'their way'. Of course, if asked if I'd rather have it easy or harder, my human side most definitely says the easy way.
But, in life, in reality, there is not many easy ways around things. Life is not easy. There is no easy way out.
Jesus reminds us of that cross that we must pick up to follow Him. He has the perfect cross for us, no matter what we may think of it.
And just because I may be upset that life in a big family and being a mother of many young children is difficult.... Well, of course it is. But that does not mean that it is not worth it.
Just as someone who trains for a marathon does not enjoy the pain and suffering accustomed to training long and grueling hours. The outcome is really good. Passing that finish line in that marathon is certainly worth it. Worth it so much, that sometimes that runner may even start dreaming of the next marathon. Much like the mother who just goes through a hard labor and birth may start dreaming of the fruit of their marital love, their next baby.
Staying married to the love of my life, my husband, is worth it.
Parenting a big family is worth it.
Homeschooling is worth it.
Our Catholic Faith is worth it.
The end product, our goal, Heaven, is totally worth it.
Period.
God bless,
Mary
I have been bombarded by others trying to escape the hardships of their life. For me, instead I am trying deeply to embrace my hardships, as they are very different from theirs... albeit still hardships. Knowing that it is God's Will for He either is making them happen or is allowing them to happen. Either way, there is peace. Believing that in all things, there is a greater good, even if we do not know what it is at that moment or may never know or may never understand the why's of it all.
The most difficult things in life are usually the ones most worth it.

Kitchens...love it, love it not...
I have a love-hate relationship w/my kitchen.
I love the fact that my whole family likes to hang out in this specific room in the house.
I love how the kids all coral around a little kitchen table squeezing in 6 chairs where only 3 would be most comfortable.
I love how they bring their books in and lay on the kitchen floor just b/c the others are in this room and Momma is in the room too.
I love how when I am cooking or cleaning (about 70% of my day), how drawn my kids are to be around me. Whatever they are doing, they bring it in this room and plop themselves down....near me.
I love how eating and talking go hand in hand. Some of our best conversations have been in the kitchen. Some of the best moments of parenting happen in the kitchen.
Learning math while cooking. Painting tons of pics. Spelling tests while Momma cooks. Social Studies--learning about generosity and patience while waiting for dinner and setting the table in the dining room. The list goes on and on.
What a wonderful feeling. (Thank you God :))
I love this room.
I love kitchens. Don't you?
But do you know what I do not love about it? Actually I really really don't like it? OK, I admit...I pretty much hate it. Period.
The size of this kitchen. It is 1/3 the size of our last kitchen. Not a big deal if a family is not that big or does not truly "LIVE" all day in the house, right? No. But, for us? This does not work.
I guess you can say our kitchen is a work in kitchen with very limited counter space. Barely enough room for those chairs I mentioned above. It is really tight. Then throw in a highchair, and it's quite the maze to get around. Seriously.
I dream of a big kitchen where we all can be around comfortably. A big long farm style table. We've got the benches already (thanks to Daddy and the boys!!! You rock!)
Kitchens.
Love them and hate this one.

Just another day in paradise
It was brought to my attention, that others that may read my blog think that my life is so peachy and I am one awesome super mom (which I am so not). Let me assure you that I am in need of a lot of graces, everyday, to do what I do. I beg God for graces to be a good mom and to know and do His Will everyday. I try and I fail. I try again. And I usually fail again. I do not do well under stress and right now, stress is my life. With 7 kids under age 10, stress is my life. So, you can only imagine that it is tough for me. I like to laugh and be with other people and that helps to relieve my stress. So, you may see me laughing a lot. That is me under stress in the company of others. Get my point? I hope so :).
If I don't mention it, it's b/c I have a incredibly sweet little lady to occupy my mind...but don't forget that I do have a set of 2 boys in a row-age 2 1/2 and 4...that at most times are a handful. They are super cute and alone, they are pretty good but together they are double trouble-watch out! I wonder if they'll always be that oil and water combo.
I mean, really. Do they HAVE to argue about every little thing that goes into one of their hands? For instance, this morning the hot item was hangers and then it was an empty baking powder can and then it was my keys and then it was backpacks and then cheerios/granola/oatmeal and then it was etc.... Then it was that baking powder can I thought was a great idea to use as a pencil holder for school. Those green people would be proud of me, right?! :) I thought it to be a swell idea too, until my 2 little men saw it. Why, oh why, do these little men always want to play with things that are NOT toys? And that was it for me.
I caught myself mid-sentence yelling "IF I WANT TO USE THAT CAN FOR A PENCIL HOLDER, THEN I CAN USE IT AS A PENCIL HOLDER! DO YOU HEAR ME?" (and yes, I think they did hear me and the rest of our neighborhood too. ;()
I do have to mention, BTW, that while this was going on with the little boys, that my older 4 were having catechism trivia games all the while they ate their breakfasts. I guess I have to look at the bright side, right?
And for those little boys....we have moved the playroom upstairs into our living room so that I can keep a better eye on these boys. I thought that to be quite the solution (thanks Holy Spirit!). Indeed, it was for a short time. Yet, those toys are up here but they want not much to do with them lately. So, then I thought a good solution was to get rid of a bunch of toys. Why have so many if they just sit there, right? Give them to kids that would appreciate them and actually play with them. That worked...for a time. We are down to minimal play toys now. I wonder if that was the right decision. Oh my...
How about some playdough? Great idea for them, but only seems to keep them occupied a few mins. You see, they end up fighting about the playdough or the toys associated with the playdough! Arrrrgh. Then that playdough ends up all over the floor and we spend MORE time cleaning up the playdough then actually playing WITH the playdough :( I say WE b/c these boys need to know when they make a mess (uh, almost 90% of the time!) they have consequences and have to clean up. And this momma has all the time in the world to teach them that lesson....yeah, right.
Learning is so fun, huh? Hard life for little people sometimes too.
You may say "Well then, split those boys up if they cannot play together." And I do. Everyday there comes a point they need to be separated and do their own thing and that is what happens. But in my oppinion, it is not healthy to have them in thier own rooms most of the day. I try to teach them and minister to them on how to play together. And this momma has all the time in the world to teach them this lesson too, right? Yeah, right.
It's not so easy, you see.
Not that easy since I have a baby in my arms most of the day.
Not that easy that one big brother likes to smush her or hold her hands or feet a little toooooooo tight.
Not that easy when I have 4 older kids that need to be doing school and need to be watched over and read to or they will not do school!
Not that easy when I have a dinner to make, a house to clean, a blog to keep updated (haaa haaa!).
Seriously, you get the point.
But, life here on earth is not supposed to be....easy. We all have our crosses to carry.
Matthew 16:24
"If anyone wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross and follow me."
So, there you have it.

Fire Recap
This week flew by for me, big time.
Monday we were sadly saying our goodbyes to my wonderful-awesome-totally crazy- energy filled b/c they actually sleep-fun and loud -sisters who came for the weekend. (hee hee)
How cool is that? They ditched their own husbands to join my hubby, me and our brood. Very cool, I must say.
So, did you notice my blog post about a, uhm...fire? (if not, click HERE. I'll wait...)
Well, those sisters of mine were here and thanks be to God that they were!!! We believe that WAS the reason they were to come up to visit us on this specific day and night and weekend. What a crazy and terrible thing we had to have happen. Let me explain...
Saturday night, all kids were sleeping, hubby was sleeping and even baby was asleep in her bassinet (which she does not do too often...she likes her Momma a whole lot). So, that leaves 3 sisters up talking, of course, with wine, of course and that 7 dip thingy except it was not 7 but more like 5 dip thingy. Anyway, it was super yummy (Thanks D!) and we were goofing off, chatting it up till late.
11:30pm to be exact.
Then sweet baby started crying and b/c the considerate (ha!) wife that I am, I did not want my hubby to wake up so up I ran to gather my little sweetie and soothe her back to sleep. As I am sitting in bed, I hear my sisters run, and I mean RUN up the stairs, knock quickly and abruptly at our bedroom door and say
"There is a fire...in your backyard!!!"
No time for me to think to look outside, I wholeheartedly believed what my sister was saying. Who wouldn't, right?
At that moment, our thoughts were totally focused on getting our 7 children out of our house, far away from our house and as I did that, I glanced back to see an orange/yellow glow behind our house and our neighbors house with very high flames (looked about 10-12 feet probably). I scurried them all into our van and awaited my hubby as he ran back inside to get a few things. I knew we were still too close to our house so I drove the van up the street a little bit. I was petrified, totally! I was shaking as I heard and saw my sisters screaming "FIRE!!!" to all our neighbors as well as banging on their doors to alert them. All of my kids were freaking out. One had her head hid between her knees with her ears covered, another one was shaking so badly it looked as if he was having a seizure, another one stared blankly straight ahead as if he was blind. The baby was still on my lap, ASLEEP THROUGH ALL THIS!!! Thank God she was sleeping! I don't know what I would have done if she was up crying and screaming. I started to bang on my horn and yelling "FIRE!" as well. I keep on honking my horn for, what felt like 5-10 mins. It was so scary. Then the fire trucks came, 5-6 fire trucks and about 30 or more fire fighters. It was quite the scene. It took them 2+ hours to calm the fire, put it out, and drench our whole backyard wooded area.
This is what it looked like once we got the "OK" to get back into our house and the firemen were putting away all their equipment and hoses. It was around 1:30am, I think.
I am so thankful the kids all were OK (except one who slept on our bedroom floor-I don't blame her! I am surprised they all were not in our bed!!! I was freaking out!) with going back to their own beds and went back to sleep.
I am thankful for those hardworking firemen who protected us and put out that nasty fire.
I am thankful for a sisters weekend and up late laughing and talking, for if we were not, there is NOWAY we would have known about this fire!
I am thankful for a very kind neighbor who called us and ended up leaving a message wondering if we were OK and if we needed to come to her home. She called at midnight and of course, we were not here to answer her call. Thank you God for good neighbors.
I am thankful that our other neighbors (well, at least some of them!) actually heard us beeping and yelling and banging on their doors. Some were not concerned in the slightest -why, I have no idea! Weird...
And I am thankful that we are all safe. Thank you God.
God bless,
M

I've never had a kid like this before!
It's bad enough when your 2 yr old is a bad sleeper. Really bad. Bad enough that I had to make that phone call. You know, the one to the seasoned mom of say...12...and ask her "What should I do now?!?!"
Just b/c I am having my 7th baby does not make me part of the 'seasoned and experienced' momhood.
Noway.
You see, it's b/c I have never had a child like this 2 yr old that I have now. He went from incredibly sweet and always had to check things out first before jumping in type of child. He had to see him Momma before he turned and ran and never ran too far from me. He had to snuggle a bit longer than usual. He liked to obey and make his Momma happy by tidying up and obeying quickly.
That is...Till he turned 2.
All within a week of turning that number....2....he went from that to this....
This is the only picture that I have captured so far. Do you see what he is doing? Ripping apart tea bags!!!!I have not any other pics simply b/c I have been crying or in shock over all the other things he has been into.
This is surely not the first thing he has done.
Oh no.
All within a 4 day span, he has:
Did you know that I keep my oatmeal and tea bags way up high in our pantry? (Of course you did not know that!).
Did you know that the glitter in up high in our (uh, yes) UP HIGH in our school closet that is with a baby proof lock? ( I guess not tested on this specific child!).
This is child #6 and if it was something that was genetic....uhm, I think it would have happened before at least with one of my other children?!? Argh.
Ok, I also have a 3 yr old that is not as innocent as he looks either. He is quite the teddy bear and such a lovey too. Interesting...when I have these 2 companions separated, rarely a problem will arise. BUT when these 2 are together--watch out! Double Trouble!
Thanks and God bless,
Mary

All within a 4 day span, he has:
- openend and dumped 13 packets of oatmeal all over my kitchen, laying in it making snow angels.
- spread red glitter all over our *carpeted* school room.
- threw green glitter all over that *carpeted* school room.
- broke eggs on my kitchen floor
- unzipped one of the cushions on our couch and ripped out the insides?
- tore up tea bags, not once...but twice-including today (the pic you see above).
I have no idea!

Do you have any advice for me?
I could really use it!

Morning Routines or lack there of
It has been a few days since I have posted anything. Sorry about that! We are still doing our family consecration, which has been very enlightening and we can see the fruits of our endeavors very much. For one big thing, we are up to 4 decades of the famiy Holy Rosary. every. single. night.!!! I am extremely grateful for this, since for years, I have wanted and wanted to encorporate the Rosary into our nightly prayers but could not figure out a way with all our little ones. Granted, it is not easy. Many nights, we are reminding them, (ever so gently and mercifully!!)! to be quiet and to focus and not lay down. It is a struggle but one that we know is worth our every effort.
As we all may know, with every part of spiritual growth, there is going to be attack by the evil one. How is he doing this, you may ask? I think in many ways! But one is very apparent to me. This nasty one is disturbing my early morning sleep and rising.
I set my alarm to wake up around 5:30am. I am not a morning person, let me tell you. It takes every effort and action of my will, to actually sit up and then get out of bed. If I lay down, I will surely fall back to sleep. I get up early to get my prayers, meditation and the consecration prayer in. Usually my hubby is kissing me goodbye as he is a morning person!!! He wakes up usually without! an alarm, showers and is out the door by 5:30am. It still shocks me how different we are. I guess opposites do attract!!!
And then, I focus on one thing alone. My coffee to start brewing. I cannot forget my coffee!
Once out of bed, I painstakingly walk down the hall, close the children's doors and then get my coffee going. All the while, being very very quiet. I know, as any mother does, if I step on the wrong part of the floor to make that extra loud squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeak, that inevitably one of my little ones will wake up.
WHy is it a shocker to me that there will be at least one child up within 5 minutes of my waking?!?! But it does and I am not happy about it. I am really not happy when they whine or complain about me reacting to them being up so early.
My lil baby who is almost 2 wants to play baseball and I cannot even open my eyes! I know I will want these early mornings when they are grown. I know I should cherish them now. I know time flies. I know life goes by in a blink. I know these things, but yet...I growl.
How can these little ones do that?
It is totally pitch dark at that hour of the morning! Why would they want to get up? I guess that maybe some of my kids have my husband's genes of early morning risers. One child, is for sure, my first one. At even 2 yrs old, he would rise at 4:30-5am. I am not kidding!!! It was a hard thing to learn being a first time mom. At least at this age, he 'sleeps in' a little more than 5am but he just does not need lots of sleep. It does not matter what time he goes to sleep, he still rises very very early. Now my baby who will be 2 (at the end of THIS month!!!) is waking up early and whining and yelling my name at that nasty early hour right after I rise.
And I am here to deal with it. Not my hubby who is the morning person... but me.
This has gotten harder for me since we started our consecration and I just know who and what is behind all this. WHat a hard thing to listen to when I have not even had a sip of my coffee yet! argh. That evil one knows my weak points, he knows how tough it is for me and he tries to get me first thing in the morning. Precisely the time I want and need to spend with our Lord Jesus Christ!!! The evil knows the graces I need and desire.
I know that there is such good to come out of our family consecration b/c the nasty one is trying hard to sway us, tempt us, make us loose our peace. But I'll have nothing to do with it. I keep trugging along and repeat to myself and to Our Lord and to Mary that nothing will tear us apart. Not the constant early wake ups that drive me nuts. Yes, I fall and I get upset and visually not very appealing. Good thing for CONFESSION!!!
So, why am I telling you all this?
Why am I rambling on and on about this?
I am not sure! Haa haa! It is so early and I have been up with my coffee and 4 kids for a while and it is ONLY 6:15am! I gess I needed to vent a little bit!
This constant waking up early for my kids is a real struggle for me. I see it as my cross and it is a hard one to accept but nonetheless, I accept it. (Pssst. And I do know that if I set my alarm for 5am that the same thing would happen, just earlier. Believe me! I have tried it already!!!)
Do you know what I am talknig about or do you have children that actually SLEEP IN!?!?!?
Since my almost 2 yr old is whining and crying next to me right now "Want snack" which means breakfast, I have to go.
I have to fulfill God's Will.
I have to tend to my little ones.
I have to fulfill the responsibilities that were handed to me.
I have to trust and have faith and confidence that God will not give me anything that Him and I cannot handle together.
I have to pick up my cross and follow Him. NOW.
(With my coffee in hand, of course.)
GOd bless,
Mary
Not my hubby who is the morning person... but me.

Lemons and Rainbows
When you got lemons, make lemonade.
Right?
At least that's what we're told. But it sure is harder than we can imagine once we are going through it.
Whenver God shuts a door, He opens a window instead.
Right?
We need the rain to get the rainbow.
Right?
In a period of 2 weeks, how in the world did my kids become all new different kids?! I want my original ones back! Give them back!
This nice 'summer mode' of relaxing and bopping around, for us, only lasts about 3 weeks TOPS! We've hit that point earlier this year. I am thinking a bit of structure surely is needed around here!!!
AND in all about a week (last week), we found a rental in the new state we'll be moving too. THere is a story that I have to post about it (but can't right now-no time) and what a story it is! We will all be together-it has been a while! Way too long. Praise God that He is making this happen. It is truly in His hands that we surrender. God's will be done.
Gotta go!
God bless, Mary

Quick Takes-Sunday Edition
1. How do you like the new look of my blog? The other one was cute, but a bit overloaded with flowers and pastels galore. My daughter loved it and I could not disappoint her and so I kept it for a while. But now I found this nice layout and the colors are a bit more relaxing to me. Seems that lots of things can get on my hormonal nerves lately and that other blog just had to go. So, do you like this new one? Either way, I'm keeping it!!! :) LOL
2. My hubby is at his high school baseball team championship game right now. What joy for him! He played in HS and college so to see them get this far and being able to make the game is quite a thrill for him. I'm pretty excited too! I hope they win! And the other good, really good part is that he took 2 of our boys with him to capture the moment. I am so happy-what a treasure of a daddy and hubby he is! Love him!
3. I don't mean to complain but I have to say that this weather pretty much stinks around here. 'Mostly cloudy with scattered thunderstorms likely' has been the forecast for just about the last week. That means that we've been indoors a lot and if they do go outside, I have to be ready for lots of mud, hence lots of laundry. I'm really sick of laundry. (hormonal annoyance again, see?).
4. We are moving? Whoops! Did I say something to get your ears perked up? Never a dull moment around here, huh?!?! Yup, my hubby got a new job and it is a great one. We feel so blessed and so fortunate. God has truly been watching out for us and we know He continues throughout this whole carzy orderal fo selling our house. Quite the test of faith for us. We continue to surrender, and it is very hard for us to do. He daily reminds us to trust Him, trust Him, TRUST HIM!
5. What's up with the birds lately? I dearly love birds, love watching them, learning about them, and listening to their beautiful music...but not at 4:45am every day. Thank God I can usually fall back to sleep but having to wake up b/c of birds is just....well, annoying. I am up enough as it is already. Let me sleep already. (sorry!!!)
6. We have been watching "Chicken Little" movie and we think it is pretty hilarious! Good laughter is good medicine for our family. It was much needed!
7. My cravings have to do with spicy foods and salty foods and vegetables! Funny how different each pregnancy is! I am loving a good salad with cheeses and vegetables and loaded with ranch or zesty italian dressing. YUM! (oh, and of course ice cream too!:)
8. My due date has changed a wee bit. Well, I guess it was more my fault of not calculating correctly. Haa haaa. With my 7th baby, you'd think I got this all figured out, right? So wrong! But good news is that I am further along than I thought and my due date is January 13th :) That means not so long with the morning/day sickness. Yay!
9. 7th child= wearing maternity clothes very early. my body just flopps out now! haaa haaa. (Pssst! I secretly like all my maternity clothing better anyway! haaa haaaa!)
10. Last quick take, I promise. And it has to do with this sweet little baby on the way. Let me introduce you to...(oh man, I was all set to show you the ultrasound pic of our newest baby but I cannot figure out how to do it. If anyone knows, please let me know b/c you'll be amazed at the picture. It is so very very clear-the ultrasound tech could not believe how clear it was at 8weeks old to see the head, the eye sockets, the body, arms, legs!)
God bless,
Mary

Total shock
Tonight I had to drop off a prescription for my sick lil 6 yr old son...seems that he has an inflammed esophagus and gastritis. He has been sick for 6 days off and on and I had to bring him to the docs today to find out exactly what is going on. So glad that I did, b/c it was not a stomach bug that I thought may be the case.
Anyway, I dropped it off thru the drive thru window and gave his date of birth and told him 'no known allergies' and said I'd be back in 20 minutes or so to pick it up.
So I came back. The woman clerk assisting the pharmacist (who I have never seen before and we know all of them that work there!!!) claimed that my son has never been to that pharmacy. Disagreeing with her, she went on to tell me that there was only one child with his name at my address but a different birth date.
Then I laughed out loud. Giggling, I told her that I must have mixed up the birthdates and told her the correct one. I went on to say that having 6 kids will do that to a momma.
She shook her head and clearly and matter of fact-ly and boldy said "You're crazy!"
No, not the "laughable-somewhat-true-oh-I-wish-I-had -more-kids-and-you -are-a-very-strong-woman-and-your-kids-are-so-adorable" comment.
Oh no. This was a totally serious statement.
Then I clearly said back to her "I am not crazy! and anyway we have another one on the way too!"
"What?!" Then her eyes did this dance where one bulged out and the other one did a circle dance while her head was shaking in disbelief. (I am not kidding). She then walked away from the window over to the counter.
At this point, feeling very nauseated from the fast food that we all gobbled down, I was not a happy camper with her response. In fact, I was hurt and felt as though I could throw up right there in front of her. I was embarrassed thinking that just maybe my kids werebeing normal kids a bit too loud and rowdy while I was at the window and gave her the impression that I was incapable of controlling my gang. How dare she say this to me. What ever happened to commom courtesy and being nice to the customers? I thought to myself, how much big families get slammed with these remarks but you never hear of a mom with one child being ridiculed for only having one. What business is it of theirs? Who knows if that mom would love to have 3 or 4 more but can't and this is a huge cross for her to bear? Who knows that this momma is happy and feels so very blessed to have 6 wonderful kids and that just maybe it is a cross at times having all these children, but that deep down know that God has called her to this vocation, this mother of a big family...maybe b/c so many are NOT open to having children at all or simply when they find it conveinent?
Ok, so I am a bit hormonal. And I took her response personally. I do not know her and probably will never have any type of friendship with this woman. But I will pray for her, b/c somehow I have a feeling that she is bitter b/c of something in her past and we all need healing. So I will pray for her, simply b/c Jesus told us to 'pray for our persecutors' and there is great peace in that.
God bless,
Mary

Go outside and play!
This was one of the most deserving beautiful weekends that we've had in a long long time. Perfect temps of 65*-75* Sunny!!! We, pretty much, spent the entire weekend outside. Lots of vitamin D and fresh air makes everyone a much happier crew. They say rain tomorrow-bummer! I was getting used to these sunny days :)
On Saturday, I brought my oldest son into the doctors b/c he banged up his toe a few days prior. How?, you ask? He was running UP the slide barefoot and banged it going up. Yes, I did tell him to put on shoes. Yes, I did remind him to put on shoes and keep his shoes on. Along with all the other kidos. Oh well, the poor kid had to learn the hard way. It really is not that bad, though. He got some x-rays to make sure the break was not in a bad place and it wasn't. So, the doctor sent us on our way with the orders of no running, no biking, no hopping, no roughing it for 2-3 weeks and taped up his toe. Ok. A 9 year old boy who is not allowed to run or bike? His 2 favorite things to do and that keep both him and me sane? Are you kidding me? Yikes.
That led us to the library to stock up on books to keep his mind busy, even if his body can't be! The librarian checked us out our usual boat load of books and asked if one of my girls took ballet, since there were quite a few books on ballet in the pile. I replied she enjoys it immensely but she is not in a class right now. She agreed that her daughter who is in the second grade has friends who are doing so many activities and sports and groups etc... that she is missing some simply b/c she is so tired, literally. She wondered why so many parents do not simply tell their children to go play outside or rather push them out the door and tell them to play outside, like we were pushed out the door. We were told to get out there and figure out something to do and play with. And we did. We had a nice little conversation about that.
That got me thinking later on about how the world is tempting us to put our children in so many sports and 'fun' activities fulfill their interests and keep them busy. And forgetting that these little minds have the best imaginations ever! They do not need a lot to be creative and be playful and simply be children. Instead, parents are not giving them the opportunity to enjoy the simple life. They are crowding them with gadgets and gizmos and noise. They get used to that so much so that when they may have that rare opportunity to be outside, for example, they don't even know what to do and dare say those words..."I'm bored."
I am so very grateful to God for my children, their innocence, and their playfulness. Many times these past few days, I would stop and glance for a good while at my children and sigh. Yes, just about the entire contents of our playroom were outside but it didn't bother me a bit. Yes, they had mismatched clothes, and no bother there either. Yes, they used the yellow/orange extension cord to make some type of real life size spider web, but I didn't care. Yes, they were running around in their slippers at times, but hey -they sorta had shoes on. Yes, they got dirt under their nails and dirt smudges all over their clothes, so what.
Happy. Content. Creative.
No TV. No Internet. No Nintendo. No IPhone. No IPod.
Just being children. And I loved every minute of it. Thank you, God.

Monday Blues
Have you ever just wanted to throw out all the contents in your house? And get rid of everything that causes a distraction in life and perfect timing for this most holy of weeks-Holy Week?
I know I mentioned about this last week but I have yet to commit. The thought of just bagging items up that I find out of place or on the floor is much more appealing! That would be tons of bags! It's quick and efficacious, don't you think?!
The other thoughts of "I might need this someday" and "this may not fit kid #3 right now but it could fit kid #5 next year" are lingering in the back of my mind but the "Just black bag it all, baby!" is the much more powerful thoughts...at least for today.
So, tell me...am I totally out of my mind or is it just a rainy cold nasty MONDAY!?!?
Thanks for listening (er, reading!) to me!
God bless,
Mary

Kids' Obesity Solution
Have you ever noticed how much the school buses stop to pick up the kids these days?
I mean, really! My hubby tries his best to get out the door for work before 2 buses pass our house. If not, he cannot avoid them stopping about every 3rd house for most of his 20 minute drive to work. That's what happened this morning. We both saw the 2 buses come and go then we looked at each other and did one of those smirky annoyed kinda-smiles.
We both thought at the same time...do kids ever have to walk to and from school bus stops anymore? Those buses stop for each kid at their houses. I am not talking about kindergarten young kidos or those with special needs but those older ones.
They got it good.
Not to date ourselves, but we had to do lots of walking to and from those bus stops waaaaaaaay back when. But, for them...nope. No walking needed. Except from the bus to the car. Even when they are called to walk, oh, about 500 feet, their parents are out there to pick them up.
I have a long time nieghbor friend who had to walk to and from her bus stop every day. That walk was a mile and a half. She went to a private school where her bus had to go to many different towns in a small amount of time. For her, that bus could not and did not get any closer to her house than a mile and a half.
So, my hypothesis is to get those kids walking again and have them trek the distance to the ol' bus stop down at the corner of the street.
My hubby encouraged me to make a disclaimer here. This post that I wrote is NOTHING against heavy/ above average/ little bit chunky type of kids. It's just something that I have noted and was a bit well, slightly peeved about.
Rob, you got this? I have just written a post for you this friday- your 'pet peeve phriday' post!
What is this picture, you ask? I have no idea, do you ?! What are they gonna come up with next?!Anyway, I think I'll take a walk today.
God bless,
Mary
