The 5th Quarter movie-did you see it yet?

Have you seen THIS movie yet?  (Pssst....you must watch the trailer video clip!!! :) !!!)
This is SO on my "MUST SEE" movie list!!!

Even the father in the movie, played by Aiden Quinn, was interviewed w/EWTN on World Over Live-last week.  What a terrific movie SO worth the $ to see!!!

If you go and see it, let me know what you think of it.  I, on the other hand, will have to wait till my nursing babe-ette will not need me every hour or so....looks like I'll wait till it's out on Netflix for an 'in-house' date night :)

God bless,

Don't throw out those old socks!

If you are in the predictability as me then you may have tried this and still those chairs are making some nasty scratches on your hard wood floor, you can try what we did this morning.

I call it "Sock Makeover" and  "The Great Sock Mission".

You see, I took all our unmatched socks-those little baby or toddler size ones -and put them on the bottom of our dining room chairs, secured them with this good ol' stuff (that can be used for just about anything!).

On a slight tangent...My grandfather used to believe that duct tape fixed everything and anything that needed fixing.  Have you ever seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding? (very cute movie, BTW, my hubby and I enjoy it a lot and laught a lot too--much needed humor is a good dose of medicine!)  If you have seen it, how can you not remember the super hilarious part of the windex? haaa haaa LOL!  Anyway, I can only relate my own grandfather with the duct tape to the father in the movie with the windex idea-that it fixes everything!

Anyway, they are working!  Of course not the best looking chairs but what we need is functionality in this house!  I am so glad that my idea is working...for now, anyway.

Happy duct taping!  What crazy things have you used duct tape for??! I'd love to know and find out some new ideas :)

Pitochio

We just watched this movie, Pistachio, by VeggieTales:
It was a total hit w/our family!  I recommend it!  It focused on obeying and listening to your parents, and that is just what we needed to re-learn lately.  Perfect timing for Netflix to allow it to be on it's 'watch instantly' viewing!

About 10 minutes into it, my 6 yr old says "Mom!  I know this movie, it's Pitochio!"

I love how kids play on words! haaa haaa!

VeggieTales are awesome, they always have an underlining virtue, character quality and lesson to teach both kids and parents alike.  Their music is catchy too, cute and catchy ;)

I don't think I will ever not like VeggieTales!

Quick Takes for Sundays

1. So, how about that? We made it! It is finally the last day of February and we cruised along the month doing just fine. Praise God that tomorrow is March 1st. Only 2 more weeks till we turn the clocks AHEAD one hour! Yeah!

2. It seems that the hot topic lately is us, stay at home moms, are feeling that we are being a tad bit overlooked. We have taken notice that those "pat on the backs" and words of affirmation are far and wide between. This is not new to us. We even get used to it after a while. But there are times and moments that it seems to creep up on us, esp. during these dark and dreary months. I have had several conversations about this in the past week, that leads me to have a hopeful frame of mind that... Spring is right around the corner! These dark winter months are tough on lots of people. Feeling overwhelmed, feeling behind on school work, feeling inadequate in being able to make it through yet another week! I am so thankful about how honest other moms have been about telling me how they are feeling. (Thank you friends!) We can easily forget to be a support for one another in these times. I do think we are all ready for the sun, the warmth, and the outside play times!

3. We watched 1/2 of the movie called "An Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving" and we just finished the other half now. It is based on the short story by Louisa May Alcott, the famous author of Little Women. All my children enjoy that one too. Of course my girls are loving this movie (my 4 and 7 yr old girls!) and my boys are tolerating it very well. They are such good sports! It was a family movie night last night full of cushions off the couches, sleeping bags, ice cream pops and memories. (Whoops!-we forgot the popcorn again!) These Saturday nights are our favorite nights to spend together!

4. I am a bit behind on getting the lessons planned out for this week. I do know that there will be some tests for my older students and trying to wrap up yet another quarter in the school year. For my younger ones, we will be focusing on the letter O this week. Any ideas to share?

5. A terrible thing happened yesterday morning while I was out shopping and going to confession. The door on our washing machine was closed a bit too roughly and it is now not closing and locking properly, therefore not working at all! I am sure you can only imagine how uncomfortable I am about this situation and how I may become a bit frantic if the workers, who we will call early Monday morning, cannot get here as fast as they can.

6. That's it for now. Time for a quick cat nap then family game time!

Happy Sunday and God bless you,
Mary

Quick Takes

My mind is full of random thoughts and possible postings so instead of picking just one and elaborating on it...here are some of my Quick Takes for the weekend:

1. We are splitting up the family to take the older kids to Mass this weekend. Yes, we hit that point that the positives outweigh the negatives of going to Mass as a family. Our patience and nerves are shot. Not to mention the poor people sitting near us week after week. What a show we provide for them! At least they are entertained. I think. Anyway, we'll re-evaluate next weekend in hopes it could be better. We'll see.

2. I took the girls to Mass yesterday, Saturday vigil. Haven't done that in quite a while. It showed when the lady in front of us turned around at the concluding song, told me she has not seen me here before and told me quite loudly that I have a very very nice voice (eeeeeek!!!) and handed me a business card (I was is such shock that I dropped it which of course made everyone notice even more!!!). Apparently she is involved in some chorus and wants me to join! My grin was enormous hearing this (and I bet others that were around us were giggling too. For the record, I do not think that I have that great of a voice! haaa haaa!!!)

3. My sweet baby is into climbing. Ay yi yi. Chairs. Couches. Stools. I wonder how I am keeping one step ahead of that lil monkey.

4. My hubby just (sorta) bundled up the 3 boys (minus baby and girls) and took them bike riding. I emphasize sorta. Nice huh? I think so ...sorta. It is sunny out... but it is only registering 27* right now. Something tells me they'll be back very soon and I better make some hot cocoa.

5. It is so very cold out. So cold that 8 minutes is the top limit for my kids, esp. my boys. Did I mention I have 4 of them boys? This is such not a good combo. Lord, help me.

6. I am already 1/2 way done w/dinner tonight! Yay for me! I put a pot roast w/ a can of cranberries in the crock pot early this morning. It smells delicious and I am going to peel some potatoes and carrots in a few minutes. Easy and warm winter dinners are the best!

7. My hubby and I watched a movie we got from Netflix last night called Flywheel. (The same guys who put out Facing the Giants and Fireproof- 2 GREAT movies too!). Wow! It was a great movie that we both enjoyed. I love how the noted before the movie even started that it was on a $20,000 budget and they still created it! So impressive. Good to know that beforehand b/c it did not have any special features and some lighting was off and immature acting at times. BUT it was Christian based and solid in honoring God in its production. Worth the watch (as with the other 2 noted above). As my hubby and I both agree, it did not make you feel guilty after watching it. Enough said.

8. Last quick take...We also watched as a family, the movie BOLT. It was oooooo-kay, I guess. We had to fast forward through some points b/c of some evil dudes. Enough to make 2 of my kids up b/c having bad dreams-argh. Those Disney movies do it all the time! There always has to be some evil side to each of them. I miss the good ol' wholesome movies.

Do you recommend any for the children, besides some I know of already? Please share if you do, maybe I can compile a list to share w/everyone. That would be great! There were some really funny parts to it that my hubby and I were cracking up to and the kids were looking at us as if "What is going on? Did I miss something?" Which made it even more funny!

Gotta go now!
God bless and Happy Sunday.

It will be a looooooooooong February, so get ready.

God bless,
Mary

Movie Review

Saturday night was an 'in house date night' with my hubby. We started to watch this. Last night, we actually finished it up! But we added a bottle of wine and popcorn :) What ol' folks we are...can't even finish a movie in 1 night!! ha!
Well, it was a great one-both for the gals and the guys! My hubby thought it was good too. Usually those movies I pick out are ones that my hubby sits through but really does not enjoy...I find him drifting off in his thoughts or eyeing a book lying on the floor...you get my drift. This was different. Good picking choice for this Momma!
It was so very nice to see a movie with no bad language, no nudity, no filth. It's about time! Just a good movie with a good plot. Period.
So, what are you waiting for? Sign up for it on Netflix now so to receive it for YOUR Saturday 'in house date night'!!!
God bless,
Mary
